Anastase Shyaka is the Director of the Centre for Conflict Management (CCM) at the National University of Rwanda (NUR). During the 2007 academic year he was a Fulbright scholar at George Mason University, where he conducted researched on peace and democratization processes in the Africa’s Great Lakes Region and nation building in post-genocide Rwanda. He also taught a course in the Department of Political Science, "Politics in Contemporary Sub Saharan Africa."

At the National University of Rwanda, he is the co-coordinator of National University of Rwanda research (in final phase) on "Genocide in Rwanda: local, national and international dimensions." He has served in a number of consultancies on behalf of UN agencies, international organizations and national institutions in the area of conflict analysis and political development.
