Martin Mennecke is a Ph.D. candidate and a senior researcher with the Department of Holocaust and Genocide Studies of the Danish Institute of International Studies. His areas of specialty are international criminal law and genocide education. He is currently finishing his Ph.D. concerning the evolving case law of international criminal tribunals on the crime of genocide. Mennecke teaches courses on international law and genocide at the University of Copenhagen and on comparative genocide studies at teacher training seminars in Northern Europe.

Mennecke is a member of the of the Danish delegation to the Assembly of State Parties to the International Criminal Court, including the Special Working Group on the Crime of Aggression. He is also a member of the Danish delegation to the International Task Force on Holocaust Education, Research and Remembrance. In the latter function, he chairs the Task Force’s Special Subcommittee on the Holocaust and other Genocides. In Denmark, he is member of the Danish Government’s steering group for Auschwitz Day (Denmark’s official day of Holocaust and genocide commemoration).
